Laura Anne (Lollie) Kearney

Laura Anne (Lollie) Kearney, 59, passed away on July 10, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. Lollie was born in Tampa, Florida on February 9, 1965 to Frank and Mary Anne Kearney.


Lollie was born and raised in Tampa. She attended and graduated from Christ the King Catholic School and Tampa Catholic High School. After high school she attended Clemson University and graduated with a degree in Psychology & Biological Sciences. Lollie excelled in both academics and athletics during her school years. She was an accomplished athlete in volleyball, basketball and softball. She played shortstop for the Tampa Bay Little League team that won the State and South titles and went on to win the 1982 World Series Championship in Mishawaka, Indiana.


After graduating from Clemson, she moved to San Francisco and became the Director of Interns for University of California at San Francisco. She continued her career as an Administrator in the medical field in California. Her dedication and passion were acknowledged by the California Pacific Medical Center in awarding her an Honorary Doctor of Medicine Degree. While in San Francisco, Lollie also devoted her time volunteering and working with the San Francisco Woman’s Center in support of their many wonderful works.


Lollie was always passionate about helping support woman in her community in many ways.

She lived in San Francisco for 13 years before returning to Tampa to be with Family. Lollie was a compassionate and great friend; loving daughter, sibling, cousin, and aunt; devoted teammate and coach; and loved to travel to the national parks. She abundantly and selflessly encouraged and supported all those she loved dearly. Encouraging them to learn and grow their talents, excel in their life’s work, and explore and adventure in nature. She shared a common passion and took inspiration from her father, Budge Kearney, in sharing a love and enthusiasm for fishing and sports. She dedicated her time to make sure her whole family including her nieces and nephews learned all they could about fishing, volleyball, baseball, tennis and so much more. Lollie was a wonderfully generous aunt to her nieces and nephews in many ways and loved them dearly.


In 2011 Lollie was diagnosed with cancer and began treatments at Moffitt Cancer Center. Once her cancer was in remission Lollie continued to pursue her interests in traveling, tarpon fishing, coaching and was a member of the Tampa Bay Pink Dragon Boat Ladies Racing Team. She continued her passions through helping female cancer survivors and her local Tampa Bay community through the support and activities of the Pink Dragon Ladies. Lollie left a legacy of encouragement in the hearts of all who knew her, her family, her friends and her teammates.


Lollie was predeceased by her brother, Frank James (Jim) Kearney IV, her father Frank James (Budge) Kearney III, her paternal grandparents Frank and Helen Kearney and her maternal grandparents, Dick and Mary Snead.

Lollie is survived by her mother, Mary Anne Kearney, her brother Tim (Kelly), her sisters Mary Helen and Anne Marie, and her precious dog, Belle.


A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 10am

at Christ the King Chapel, 821 S. Dale Mabry Tampa.


In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor can be made to the Moffitt Cancer Center.
