Joseph Thomas Angelillo, 56, of Tampa, FL, formerly of Verona, NJ, bid his final farewell to "the People of Earth" on January 21, 2025.
Joe was cherished for his sharp memory of life's random moments, the 56 Grateful Dead shows he attended, his Annual Hoocherfest, and his passion for New York sports. He took pride in his Italian heritage and was known for his unique and humorous quips.
A natural storyteller, Joe found immense joy in revisiting memories, often starting with his signature line, “Remember that time…” and he would tell you exactly what he was wearing. He rarely finished a story without laughing. Joe’s adventurous spirit led him to travel the world, sending “Live Action” video messages from wherever he went. Along the way, he forged countless connections and had a signature habit of pointing at his friends in photos, a playful trademark of his personality. Family was everything to Joe—he treasured holidays, never missed a birthday, and tried to make every gathering.
Joe’s career was as colorful as his life. He began as a caddie at Montclair Golf Club, transitioned to auto sales at Bigelow Motors, became a booking agent for the legendary band Bright Water Garden, sold premium cheeses for Roma Foods and Publix Foods, and ultimately found his calling as an executive assistant to his beloved "Pookie Dogs," Marie and Antoinette.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Liliana Arango Angelillo, of Tampa, FL, and his siblings: Tina Wojtal (Wilmington, DE), Marc Angelillo (Skaneateles, NY), Donna Halpin (Schnecksville, PA), Barbara Jo O’Rourke (Hingham, MA), and Gregg Angelillo (Basking Ridge, NJ). He was predeceased by his loving parents, Tina and Marc C. Angelillo, Jr., of Verona, NJ.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.
at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona, NJ.
Joe’s laughter and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
What a long, strange trip it's been.
