Jerry Amesquita Garcia



Jerry Amesquita Garcia, 35, passed away in Tampa, Florida during the early hours of December 10, 2024. Jerry was born in Aurora, Illinois. He graduated in 2007 from East Aurora High School, excelling in his studies and competing as an athlete in wrestling and football. It was there he met his wife, Kari (Helgesen) Garcia, and married on October 13, 2012. Jerry received his Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Westwood College and began his career in the sign and graphics industry. 


Relocating to Tampa, Florida in 2014 to continue his career in the sign industry, he eventually became an entrepreneur owning his own business, Freedom Signs & Graphics. He was revered as a boss and respected by his industry peers for his knowledge and expertise, often being specifically requested from clients due to his prestigious reputation. 


Jerry was a true original with an extremely charismatic personality that drew people to him, making them want to always be around him and feel gratified to have met him. He was never short of a joke or witty response and could fool anyone with his convincing acting and storytelling. He was a source of strength and support to those around him, offering sound advice and truthful observations. His determination was unyielding and his love was boundless. Throughout his life, Jerry created unforgettable bonds and shared enduring memories with so many.


Jerry is survived by his wife, Kari (Helgesen) Garcia, mother Sylvia Amesquita, father Juan Garcia, brothers Juan and Jesse Garcia, Marcos Amesquita, sisters Jazmin Amesquita, Belinda, Marisol, and Nancy Garcia, and many beloved nieces and nephews. 


A closed, private viewing will be held at Compassionate Cremations and Memorials in Tampa, Florida. 


In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry’s honor can be made to Beat the Streets National to support youth in the sport he loved most, wrestling. https://beatthestreets.org/
